Coach Kevin Waters

Coach Kevin Waters Comes to Bridgeland High School from an extremely successful 4 year stint at A&M Consolidated High School where he returned the Consol XC and Track Programs to a place of prominence in the UIL by advancing to the State Meet the past 3 years.  Coach Waters produced an extremely successful 2 years as the Head Cross Country and Distance Track Coach at New Mexico Junior College. At NMJC his teams achieved top 7 places both indoor and outdoor in 2012 and 2013 and coached the NMJC women’s distance athletes to 9 All American honors in 2012/13. Prior to NMJC Kevin was a member of the Physical Education/Health Department at Saint Mary's Hall in San Antonio TX and in addition to his teaching duties he was the Head Varsity Cross Country and Track & Field Coach. At SMH he lead both the boys and girls teams to top 4 finishes in Cross Country and his athletes have set over 35 school records in both Track and Cross Country. Kevin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Health Promotion and Physical Education at the University of Houston. A two time Kansas 5A State Champion and record holder in the 800m and a member of 2 State Championship Cross Country Teams, Coach Waters competed as a NCAA Division I Track athlete in the mid 1980’s at The University of Kansas. He currently holds certificates as a USA Track & Field Level 2 Sprints/Hurdles/Relays Coach, Level 2 Endurance Event Coach, and as a Level 1 Coaching Education Instructor. Kevin is also a USAT&F National Level certified official and has served as the Head Umpire for the 2017 NCAA Division I Indoor National Track & Field Championships and the NCAA DII Outdoor National Track & Field Championships as well as many other NCAA Championships. Coach Waters spends his summers coaching at a number of different Track & Field camps as well as enjoying time on the golf course. His other interests include baseball, hiking, and music.
